He doesn't wear a cape. He doesn't have supernatural powers. But through sheer strength of will -- and a deep sense of conviction -- attorney Jeff Anderson is on the cusp of bringing the Vatican itself to account for covering up a plague of sexual abuse by its priests.
Photographing Anderson for Minnesota Monthly, I matched my subject's intensity with equally strong graphics: heightened grain, sharpened contrast, in-your-face framing. When she saw my proofs, the magazine's art director revised her single-shot layout to a full-bleed, double-truck opener with a full-page bleed on the second page. I like having an impact myself!
