It's what my client, Xcel Energy, is all about. And as I shot this year's annual, it's what I wanted to infuse my imagery with -- power, strength, scale, force.
To give the photography this kind of wattage, I used dramatic leading lines. I depicted both man and structure from lower angles for a heroic feel. I took advantage of the sun. I gave it brawn with a heavier grain.
Some of it comes to me while I'm shooting, instincts honed by 20 years of experience. But much of it comes from a plan, a vision that's inspired by the story my client wants to tell.
I think, I prepare, and then, I use my gut. Maybe it sounds -- or looks -- easy, but there's more than meets the eye at work here.
(P.S. More Xcel images on my website or Xcel's.)
